Welcome to The Wooden Horse Nursery – a family-owned and managed, purpose-built nursery offering both private and funded places for children from birth to 5 years old. At The Wooden Horse, everything we do is built around our Ethos: Nurture · Thrive · Explore. We provide a safe, caring, and stimulating environment where every child is nurtured as an individual. By focusing on each child’s emotional and physical wellbeing, we ensure they feel secure, valued, and ready to flourish.
OUR SETTINGS
The Wooden Horse is a purpose built nursery set on the site of St Hilda’s School
The outside area is used as an extension of the inside and many activities are used outside such as the dressing up, role play and small world. The children have loose parts construction, a sand pit (within a beach hut), a vegetable patch and we have nursey rabbits and guinea pigs for the children to help look after. Activities such as ball games, obstacle courses and races are planned to develop gross motor skills.
The Outdoor play area is well designed and promotes children’s physical development, their understanding of the world and also their creativity and imagination
